Inside the Tasting Rooms Cline Cellars - Missions, Marriage & Marsanne......oh, and Donkeys Too
Cline Cellars in Sonoma is situated on a historic property that was once the site of a Miwok Village and the first camp of the Sonoma Mission. The grounds have thus been consecrated and provide a special site for marriages and other sacred ceremonies.
The Mission theme holds even further significance as you enter the the 'Missions Museum' which houses a rare collection of exact replicas, designed to scale, of all of California's Missions from San Diego to Sonoma. These models were initially designed for the 1939 Worlds Fair and have been completely restored to their
original glory.
This is also the home of two adorable Sicilian Miniature Donkeys (Pudding and Fancy ) which fit right in to the Mission surroundings and are happy to be fed, petted and adored.
Cline Cellars is best known for their Rhone varietals such as Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, and their intense flavorful Zinfandels of which they have garnered enormous acclaim.
Visiting Cline Cellars is definitely not your average "tasting room" experience. With historic grounds, picnic tables, fountains and great wine - this is more like a field trip with the elements of California History, pioneered wines & adorable donkeys, all within an easy drive from the Bay Area.
