in the Russian River Valley

Merriam Vineyards is located between the towns of Windsor and Healdsburg, just off Hwy 101 as you are entering the Northern part of Sonoma County's Wine Country. It's the perfect "first stop" before heading to either the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley or Alexander Valley for a day of breathtaking beauty and sensory discovery.

Merriam Vineyards is the vision of Peter and Diana Merriam. As New Englanders', Peter and Diane spent many years visiting friends here in Sonoma County and became enchanted with the quality-of-life and year round beauty indicative of this area. Being longtime enthusiasts of all things natural, sustainable and delectable, they decided to take their passion to heart and in the year 2000, through the encouragement of close friends, purchased Wind Acre Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in operation (since 1890) in Sonoma County.

The philosophy at Merriam Vineyards is to let mother nature do the job with the fruit, then practice minimal interference. They specialize in hand-crafted, small-lot Bordeaux style wines from precisely farmed acres of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. They practice sustainable farming methods and have one of the few water reclamation programs in the Sonoma County wine growing region.

The tasting room is designed to reflect the comfort and warmth of a New England style home while at the same time leave guests with a feeling of generosity and abundance indicative of the South of France.

They welcome you to stop and enjoy their Bordeaux style wines while sitting on their generous patio overlooking the Russian River Valley to the West.

An important thing to note is, Peter Merriam brings with him 20 years experience in the fine wine business as a wine merchant from New England. So if you've ever wondered what wines the store keeper is keeping for themselves', now you'll know!
